Gaylene Guillemin had a tough time going through the process of life after her husband died. In her new book, “Beyond Shattered Dreams”, she talks about her journey with her husband Merv during his illness along with her personal grief journey after his passing.

“This is a journey that has changed me from the person I use to be, with so many life lessons coming my way.  When I look back I hardly recognize that person from the person I am today,” said Guillemin. “I have walked so many miles, taking one scary step at a time and conquering so many fears.  The day my husband passed away left me shattered asking the  question “who am I now and how will I survive?”

“It’s really hard when you lose your significant other because all of the sudden your status goes from being a married wife to being single,” Guillemin said. “That’s really awkward when you’re socially out, and you know I’m so fortunate because the community has been so supportive and without our family we couldn’t have done it.”

“In sharing my story, my hope is to help others to find their strength to survive their own personal grief journey.  My motto is ‘By shining my light my hope is to inspire others who want to shine their light’.”

In addition to being a writer, Guillemin is an inspirational speaker. She also is an angel card reader and incorporates other tools when doing her energy work. She received her certificate as an Angel Empowerment Practitioner and also has her Death and Grief Studies certificate along with access bars and is always adding to her resources. She enjoys connecting with nature by working with cows and walking in the country.

Guillemin is currently on a book tour, to talk more about her experience and to sign copies. She was at the Assiniboia and District Public Library on Monday.
