New exhibit unveiled at Shurniak Art Gallery

From trumpets to totem poles, the “White Rock Collection” includes different mediums and many new artists, as well as more pieces from Bill Shurniak’s favourites

ASSINIBOIA - The “White Rock Collection”, a legacy art exhibit donation in memory of Bill Shurniak was unveiled at the Shurniak Art Gallery.

Local artists and board members of the Shurniak had a sneak peak of the new exhibit, which is now open to the public.

It will be featured in the newly acquired “White Rock Collection” exhibit, which includes 36 pieces from various artists that have come to Assiniboia from Shurniak’s home in White Rock, B.C. With so much to display, there will be three rooms of the new artwork.

From trumpets to totem poles, the “White Rock Collection” includes different mediums and many new artists, as well as more pieces from Shurniak’s favourites, such as Cathelin and Kuckein.

Another addition to the “White Rock Collection” is ‘Fly Over’, an exceptional painting by Vancouver artist Ross Penhall. This painting has been donated by the artist in memory of Bill Shurniak. The shape and scope of this work will amaze and surprise audiences.

There will be a new direction in programming for the 2022 to 2023 at the Shurniak Art Gallery. Painting classes at the Shurniak will continue, followed by clay classes beginning in May.
