ASSINIBOIA - A second Ukrainian refugee family arrived in Assiniboia on November 10. Marc Topola and Ivan Kennes from the “Southland Ukrainian Relocation Committee” met the family at the Regina Airport and brought them to Assiniboia.

Marc said he would like to thank Nelson Motors for again supplying the van and Hutch Ambulance and Public Health for supplying a child safety seat.

The new family of five consists of Roman Korzhynska (dad), Ivanna (mom), Vira (11), Liliia (8) and Yarema (3).

Due to the efforts and support of the community, the family has settled into their new home. With exceptional assistance of the principals and staff at the Assiniboia 7th Avenue and Elementary Schools, both Vera and Liliia have already started school.

The family is from a Kolomyia, in the southwest part of Ukraine. Both Roman and Ivanna are hoping to get all the paperwork done as quickly as possible so they can begin work.

Marc stated that although the committee is pleased with the support and financial assistance they have received from the entire region, they are not stopping here. As long as they continue receiving assistance, the committee will continue to relocate additional Ukrainian families that need their help.
