For these we give thanks

Thanksgiving 2014. Since we last joined hands around the turkey-laden table so much has happened in our world. Sadly, much of it has been tragic.

Not wanting to be anybody else but me

A woman gets onto a bus with her baby. The bus driver says, "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!" The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming.

Writing a prayer

I love words. My fascination with them began as a child and to this day, playing with them, kicking sentences around and arranging the shape of articles into an intelligent and thought-provoking commentary delights me.

Making things better

I'm one of those folks who honestly doesn't mind filling out most surveys. Case in point: this afternoon I tackled a questionnaire dealing with the development of our community's official plan.

When we need it most God will send us a song

When I am sad, I sing, and then others are sad with me. (lol) After silence, music comes closest to expressing the inexpressible. "A-B-C-D-E-F-GWXY and Z" may be one of the first songs we remember, next to HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Don't forget

I read about a couple who'd eaten lunch at a roadside diner. After they'd left and travelled a fair distance down the road the woman realized she'd forgotten her glasses. Her husband turned the car around and headed back, complaining all the way.

Report from God

A woman sees a fortune teller. Peering into a crystal ball, the mystic delivers grave news. "There's no easy way to say this, so I'll just be blunt: Prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year.

Finding joy when the glass is empty

If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.--Emily Dickinson There is little humor in depression.
