WEYBURN - The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn has rescheduled an event with former Olympic and world champion figure skater Tessa Virtue.

She will be featured in an “Evening with Tessa Virtue” on Thursday, May 18, at the Weyburn Curling Rink. She was originally slated to come in 2020, but the event had to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

She and skating partner Scott Moir competed at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, winning gold, the first North American ice dancers to ever win the Olympic championship.

At the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, they won silver, and then in 2018 at Pyeong Chang, South Korea, they won gold in both ice dance and the team events.

Altogether, she and Moir won five Olympic medals, three gold and two silver, and were the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history.

Doors will open for the evening event at 5:30 p.m. with a prime rib dinner at 6:30 p.m., and entertainment will follow.

Tickets are $100 for adults, and 12 and under are $50, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

There are a limited number of corporate tables for eight available, for $1,000.

Tickets are available at Barber Motors or through any Young Fellows club member.
