ESTEVAN - Grimes Sales & Service Co. (2020) Ltd. has kicked off the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation Radiothon for Life Campaign with a donation of $10,000.

This donation will officially start off the fundraising initiatives of the foundation’s annual radiothon, set to take place May 4 on Golden West Broadcasting’s Estevan radio stations.

The St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation says it is very grateful for the donation from the business, which is an oilfield company based in Lampman.

“We are incredibly thankful for the donation from Grimes Sales and Service to kick off our Radiothon for Life campaign. Our radiothon funds much needed medical equipment for our hospital and with the help of this donation, we are off to a great start,” said foundation executive director Lori Gervais.

This year’s Radiothon for Life will be back at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with tents set up outside of the long-term care entrance.

“We are very excited to be back at the hospital this year. Having the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital getting involved again is something we have been missing these past couple of years due to the pandemic, so bringing it back to the hospital is going to make it a great day,” said Gervais.

Campaigns in support of the Radiothon For Life have already begun with a partnership with A&W Estevan for a Teen Burger Tuesday campaign for the month of April. Proceeds from all Teen Burgers sold at A&W Estevan on Tuesdays this month will support the Radiothon for Life campaign.

Southern Plains Co-op is also signed up to support a community barbecue on Radiothon Day at the hospital’s parking lot. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be available by donation.

Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will support upgrades to Unit A. This department houses the medicine unit, palliative care, intensive observation unit and more. Upgrades will include facility improvements, new furniture for patient rooms, new televisions in all rooms, upgrades to the staff room, renovations in the family room and new medical equipment.

“Unit A is the heart of our hospital and we are looking forward to partnering with St. Joseph’s Hospital to upgrade this vital department,” said Gervais.

The Radiothon For Life is an annual event hosted by St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the funding of medical equipment at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
