Mossbank has one of the fastest growing populations in the province. The town follows only Saskatoon and Regina according to the Saskatchewan 2016 Census. The community has grown 10.1 per cent in 2016, which is twice the Canadian average between 2011-2016 and three times the average for Saskatchewan towns.
Young families moving into the community has fuelled the success, according to Mossbank Mayor Gregg Nagel. He added that the town opened a new subdivision for three new houses built in 2016 with three more to follow this year. The new residents have been attracted to Mossbank by the excellent recreation facilities.
One of the key projects has been the town swimming pool. “It is as much an integral part in summer as the rink is in the winter,” the Mossbank mayor said of the pool. The community has been fundraising to renew the swimming pool. With town reserves and generous donations from local businesses and individuals, $250,000 has been raised so far for the project.
Mayor Nagel stated that the two main employers for the town are the founding dealership of South Country Equipment and the Furrows and Faith retirement villa, which is now running at full capacity. “There are good businesses in town,” he added.  Other shops and services include The Bent Nail café, The Barn, Southland Co-op’s hardware and auto service, AgriTax accounting office, Conexus Credit Union, Nagel Insurance, Skates and Skirts boutique, and Top Shelf grocery among others. Mossbank is also the home base for RW Organic, an organic grain handling business.
The town has a proud history, preserved in the Mossbank Museum, which displays the only original blacksmith shop still standing in Saskatchewan. The museum also holds an apple pie day fundraiser during the summer, and will be commemorating Canada 150 on July 1 as part of its Canada Day celebrations.
