Municipal coal transition assistance program grant application dates

The Municipal Coal Transition Assistance Program is accepting applications for grants.

ESTEVAN - The Municipal Coal Transition Assistance Program has announced dates to apply for its grants.

The program was developed by the Province of Saskatchewan as part of its plan to support communities while they transition from coal-based industries to other economic possibilities.

Municipalities and businesses in the southeast transition region of Saskatchewan are eligible for support through this program, which is designed to attract investment and advance economic development and diversification opportunities in the area.

Applications will be reviewed by the Municipal Coal Transition Committee, which is comprised of representatives from City of Estevan, RM of Estevan, RM of Coalfields and the Town of Bienfait.

Applications will be accepted on or before the following intake dates: Dec. 10 of this year; March 11, June 10, Sept. 9 and Dec. 9 of 2022; and March 10, 2023. The deadline for each will be 5 p.m.

Applications are being accepted on a quarterly basis until March 10, 2023, or until such time as funds in the program are no longer available. Application forms are available for download at  www.ssep.ca  or www.estevan.ca.
