ESTEVAN - The Southeast Techhub is promoting a couple of events that will occur before the end of May.

The first is Tracie Heier’s Working Remotely from Estevan for a Toronto Firm presentation. She is a certified public accountant with over 10 years of experience in the public accounting world, and has a tech-centric focus.

Working with technology-focused clients, she has experience with crypto currency, e-commerce, venture-backed firms and pre-revenue start ups. Her focus is primarily on corporate and personal tax planning, along with compiling financial statements.

In a news release, the Techhub noted that working closely from pre-revenue to launch – including assistance with full-cycle accounting, tax planning and guidance through reorganization – she can foster growth in her client base. Experience with the latest applications and automations has sped up the accounting process and ultimately saved her clients money in the long run.

Heier completed the in-depth tax program in 2018. She has a bachelor of arts with an honours in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

She currently heads up the accounting and tax department at ConnectCPA, a fully remote accounting and tech firm based out of Toronto. This firm has the unique advantage of being able to pull talent from coast to coast, while still maintaining service.

A live stream will be available at https://youtube.com/live/wtipw4vALYo?feature=share

Gordon More with the Southeast Techhub said the Southeast Techhub is hosting this event to help Estevan grab some of the talent in the largest city centres, looking to move to small communities for a better lifestyle.

Heier’s presentation will be May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Southeast Techhub.

Start Up TNT will host a lunch at the Techhub called Investing into Innovation and Technology in Saskatchewan.

Start Up TNT is a large venture capital/angel investment group that is vetted and funded by Prairie Canada and Innovation Saskatchewan.

More said he is hosting this event as he wants people in Estevan to look at innovation and technology as a wealth generator, for themselves and for the community.

Chris Nykolaishen, who is a 35-year-old entrepreneur, will be the presented. Born and raised in Kamsack, he spent the early part of his working life in the family John Deere dealership, Nykolaishen Farm Equipment. He also spent time helping out where he could on the family's farm operation.

After they sold their dealership to Pattison Ag in 2017, he spent more time working on the farm and exploring new business opportunities. In 2019 he partnered with a long-time friend to open a retail store in Kamsack. More recently he has been managing his family's group of companies and has taken on angel investing.

He joined Startup TNT in January 2022 for their Cleantech Summit, and has participated in each summit since, taking on an ambassador role along the way. Through TNT, Chris has made nine investments in Saskatchewan start-up companies.

His speech will occur May 31 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Southeast Techhub in Estevan.

Both events are free and open to all.
