ESTEVAN - An Alameda man is facing a series of new charges in connection with an incident involving the RCMP late last year, but he is no longer facing two serious charges.

Theodore Allan Brycks was in Estevan Provincial Court on Thursday morning. Two counts of attempted murder of a police officer and four charges for breaching his probation order were withdrawn.

But he is now facing new charges, including the following single counts:

  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm;
  • Pointing a firearm at another person;
  • Assaulting peace officer with weapon or causing bodily harm;
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order;
  • Use of a firearm while commissioning an offence; and
  • Resisting arrest.

He is also charged with two counts of uttering threats and three counts of breaching a probation order.

All charges are under the Criminal Code. No charges have been proven in court.

Brycks was remanded into custody for his next court appearance on March 20.

According to the RCMP, officers went to Brycks’ home on Dec. 7, 2022, to arrest him after receiving word he was violating his probation order. He then allegedly went into the house and retrieved a firearm.

An altercation occurred which included the discharge of a firearm by the responding police officers.

No physical injuries were reported and the RCMP reports Brycks was arrested without further incident.
