Arcola Health Centre re-opens

Sun Country Health Region (SCHR) has announced the re-opening of in-patient services and the Emergency Department at the Arcola Health Centre.

Sun Country Health Region (SCHR) has announced the re-opening of in-patient services and the Emergency Department at the Arcola Health Centre.

The Emergency Department at the Arcola Health Centre has been closed since October 2009 due to lack of physician coverage in the area. As of 7 a.m. on July 19, the Emergency Department will be fully operational on a full-time basis, 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Two physicians have recently been recruited to work in the community, enabling a full complement of four physicians in the Carlyle/Arcola area to provide emergency coverage for the health centre.

"We are very pleased to be able to provide full hospital and emergency treatment once again to the people of Arcola and area," said Cal Tant, President and CEO of SCHR. "We know everyone will feel more at ease now that emergency services will be available closer to home."

SCHR is grateful to the members of the community who recruited the physicians, said Tant.

Residents are reminded to utilize the Arcola Health Centre Emergency Department for emergency purposes only.
