On May 6, 2011, the grand re-opening of the Carlyle Home Hardware at 110 Railway Ave. was greeted by the community with eagerness. The larger store meant that Nancy and her husband, Gilles, Matthewson could offer more to their customers. With the move came a greater selection of inventory, as well as an easier time finding all your home needs.
This, however, was not all that the move had to offer. Having owned and operated the store since January of 2005 a pleasant surprise came when, at the end of February 2012, they were delighted to discover that they had been given a "Proud of my Home: Outstanding Retailer Recognition Award" as a silver recipient.
"This is the first time we've received this award and it's very exciting." Matthewson exclaimed.
The score that resulted in winning the award was based on a store visit worksheet, which involves certain aspects such as if the store is clean and what they have to offer those that enter.
An acknowledgement like this is very exciting for the store owners, but is also a testament to the staff. It means that their store is in the top 20% of all Home Hardware stores in the area. This recognition is an impressive accomplishment, which was rewarding to all those involved.
"We often hear how our store is bright and clean, it makes a difference. All of the staff here works so hard," replied Matthewson.
The acceptance of the award has been met with the acknowledgement that though they may own the store it is truly the joint effort of all the staff. It is this teamwork and quality service that contributed to Home Hardware Stores Limited ultimately recognizing the Carlyle Home Hardware.
They have enjoyed the move to the larger store greatly, while their team works hard to make the customer's experiences the best they can be. With the move to the larger building allowing for greater accessibility and the positive attitudes which resonates amongst the staff, they are the proud recipients of this award.
Through these past seven years they have worked hard and enjoyed being involved in the community. Community is very important to them and in support of the Anti-Bullying Day to be held on May 2, 2012, by Carlyle schools they will wear pink.
