Carlyle RCMP investigate stabbing

The Carlyle RCMP is investigating an attempted murder at the Whitebear First Nation. Members of the Carlyle RCMP responded to a complaint at a residence on the Whitebear First Nation on March 26 at approximately 7 p.m.

Members of the Carlyle RCMP responded to a complaint at a residence on the Whitebear First Nation on March 26 at approximately 7 p.m.The 911 caller indicated that a stabbing had occurred. Members of the Carlyle detachment patrolled the residence and identified two victims that required medical aid.

The victims, a 60-year-old male and a 61-year-old female (both from the Whitebear FN), were transported by EMS to Arcola Hospital and were treated for their injuries. Both were held overnight for observations and have since been released from the hospital. Their injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

RCMP arrested a 38-year-old woman on the Whitebear FN and she was also transported to Arcola Hospital for treatment.The accused was released from the hospital and then lodged in cells at the Carlyle detachment.

The 38-year-old woman is identified as Corine Lonethunder from the Whitebear FN and she is related to the two victims.She is facing three Criminal Code charges, including attempted murder on the male victim, uttering threats on the male victim, and aggravated assault on the female victim. The accused made her first court appearance in Estevan on March 28.
