The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 17th annual "Parade of Lights" on Thursday, Dec. 2.

Entrants in the parade will begin to line up at 6:15 p.m. that evening at the Exhibition Grounds. Those who are entering a float are asked to abide by only two rules for the parade. The first request is that there be no candy thrown from moving vehicles as street conditions are likely to be icy. It is acceptable, however, to hand out candy while walking beside the float.

The second request is that the Chamber's float be the only one with a Santa Claus on it. This is to avoid confusion in small children. Including reindeer or elves on other floats would be acceptable.

The parade will leave the Exhibition Grounds at 7 p.m. It will travel east on Prairie Avenue, then will turn south on Third Street. It will continue down Third Street until reaching Railway Avenue, turning west for a block and then heading north up Second Street. Once the parade reaches Coteau Avenue and Second Street, it will turn west towards Government Road, and will then take its final journey north on Government Road before returning to the Exhibition Grounds.

Anyone interested in entering a float in the parade can contact the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce. Residents can find a detailed map and entry forms for the parade on the Chamber's website.
