Christmas-themed programs featured at the Weyburn library

A number of Christmas-related programs and activities will be featured at the Weyburn Public Library through the month of December.

WEYBURN – A number of Christmas-related programs and activities will be featured at the Weyburn Public Library through the month of December.

Jingle and Mingle night is on Thursday, Dec. 7, starting at 6 p.m. at the Weyburn Public Library. Come out and listen to the Weyburn Comp's own RISE Choir, make an ornament for your tree and enjoy some cookies and cider. This is prior to the Parade of Lights, which will start at 7 p.m.

Join the library for Nailed It/Failed It for ages 13-17 on Friday, December 1 at 4 p.m. Registration is needed to have enough supplies so email wplteenprogrammer@southeastlibrary.ca or call 842-4352 to save a spot.

Fans of Lego can come out on Saturday, Dec. 2 at p.m., and there will be holiday and Star Wars themed mosaics to make.

There is also a Playful Projects session on Dec. 2 at 11 a.m., as people can make M&M glitter ornaments. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The first meeting of Cookies & Crime will be on Monday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. The group will be listening to a true crime podcast about the Slenderman Murders and making delicious “murder cookies”. Register by calling 842-4352 or email wplteenprogrammer@southeastlibrary.ca.

December activities for preschoolers, which is ages three to five, will be held on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. On Dec. 6, there will be a storytime and craft, to make a personalized glitter ornament and beaded candy cane.

On Dec. 13 is music and active play, and on Tuesday, Dec. 19, there will be sensory bins and puzzles which are holiday themed, and children can decorate sugar cookies.

For children aged six to eight, there are sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school at 4 p.m., including making gingersnaps and shortbread cookies on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The activity on Dec. 12 is to go snowshoeing at a location to be announced, and Dec. 20, children can learn how to make lasagna and decorate a sugar cookie. On Thursday, Dec. 21, they can make an elf shelf sitter and yarn ornament.

For the tweens, ages nine to 12, there are activities on Mondays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. On Dec. 4, they can learn how to make gingersnaps and shortbread cookies, and on Dec. 11, they will go snowshoeing, weather permitting, at a location to be announced.

The tweens and teens will combine on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. to sew potholders and have sweets, and on Dec. 18 the tweens will make lasagna and decorate a sugar cookie.

A session of “Warm drinks and book talks” will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, where adults can talk about their favourite books while enjoying eggnog chai latte.

For those adults wanting to do a craft, come out on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. to make a frosted holiday jar. On Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m., adults and teens can come create terra cotta gingerbread house decorations.

Cribbage night at the library will be on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m., with crib boards and cards available to play. In addition, card games are available on Sundays on a drop-in basis, available at the front desk, on Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
