ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service and other emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 39 and Breeze Street Tuesday.

An eastbound car collided with a westbound truck attempting to make a left turn off the highway. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. The EPS said the driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to yield to an approaching vehicle when turning left. The EPS said reduced visibility is believed to have been a factor in the cause of the collision.

A report of theft was also called into police Tuesday after a business noted substantial charges related to one of their accounts. The matter remains under investigation

A local business called police to report that an elderly individual has recently purchased a large amount of gift cards and thought they might be getting scammed. Police were able to identify the individual and notify family of the behaviour. The matter remains under investigation.
