Big Daddy Tazz had the entire crowd at Alida Memorial Hall laughing heartily as he performed on Jan. 26.

The comedy show and supper held in Alida on Jan. 26 by the Alida and District Lions Club was a great success. In all 160 tickets were sold for the event, which was catered by the Alida History Book Committee. Part of the funds of the evening therefore is going towards Alida Homecoming this July, while the other part is to go towards the new roof of the Alida Memorial Hall.

The roof is estimated to cost approximately $60,000 to $65,000 to replace and is well needed as cracks are visible when glancing towards the ceiling. As a community gathering place the hall is well used and the Alida and District Lions Club were happy to have Big Daddy Tazz, a seasoned comedian come to entertain the crowd.

Everyone in attendance was invited to eat and drink lots for the two great causes in the community. Many at the event raved about how great the food was that the History Book Committee prepared. Supper began at 6 p.m. and by 7:30 p.m. the tables were all cleared. After chatting until 8 p.m. everyone was ready for Big Daddy Tazz to take to the stage.

Not one minute in and the crowd was already laughing heartily. He stood up on stage and had people laughing very hard for close to two hours as he performed, though one could have sworn he had only been up there for an hour. Big Daddy Tazz was able to keep everyone enthralled in his material as he focused on rural Saskatchewan and Canadian humour for much of the show including Saskatchewan roads and Air Canada.

Other topics included the west and east Canadian divide, growing up, and kids today. One of the bits which received thunderous applause was an auctioneer piece that had people not only laughing, but amazed by how well he could do the fast paced speech.

In the end the performer was given a standing ovation. Following the show he enjoyed chatting with many of those in attendance. Everyone was encouraged to stay and enjoy each other's company for awhile longer in order to continue raising money for the two causes.

"It [the evening] was great. The History Book Club and the roof both get a little money that they need," Big Daddy Tazz said following his show.

"I love it here, it's like performing for the whole family. The crowd was fantastic, the people here are great."

"If they ask me out here again I'll come and hopefully they're able to get the roof fixed sooner rather than later because it's a facility everybody uses."

Very much enjoying himself in the area he was happy to say if anyone needs a comedian for a show they should contact him through his website, bigdaddytazz.com, as he very much enjoys performing in rural Saskatchewan, since he grew up in the province. Those who he performs for here are able to get all of his jokes, while those in big cities in other provinces don't always catch on to some of his material.
