Communities in Bloom photographer wins first place in contest

Her submitted photo was selected for the great display of colour, texture and height of plants and rocks.

ASSINIBOIA - Linda McCrank won first place in the Communities in Bloom ‘Take a Shot’ photo contest.

Her submitted photo captured Central Park in Assiniboia, and was selected for the great display of colour, texture and height of plants and rocks.

McCrank has been a volunteer with the local Assiniboia Communities in Bloom committee for a number of years. She said that she would often take photos of the different Communities in Bloom projects around town, as the season progressed, and posted them on the Assiniboia Communities in Bloom Facebook page.

“This year, I submitted a few photos that I liked into the photo contest,” said McCrank. She really enjoys catching the progression of flowers and their blooms throughout the season.

In the contest winner announcement, the judges reported that in the photo, “one gets a sense of people who might be sitting on the bench and enjoying the setting. A very clearly defined area with a welcoming and well shaded bench.”

The provincial Communities in Bloom committee announced the results on November 10. All winners will be featured on the social media page for Communities in Bloom Saskatchewan throughout the winter.

In late November, they will receive certificates in the mail.
