Crocus 80 Theatre will reflect on their past year, and start casting for their December production during their annual general meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The annual general meeting will be held at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre at 7 p.m. Right after the meeting, there will be a casting call for the December production.

"This was a very busy year for the theatre group," said Sabrina Kraft, president of Crocus 80 Theatre. "The annual general meeting is an opportunity to sit down with our members and discuss all the projects that we had, and start planning for new projects for next year."

"In the last year, we had our winter production, the March production with the Weyburn Agricultural Society and the centennial piece 'Circle the Crops', which was written by Crocus 80 alumni member Edward Willet," said Kraft. "Also, our cast for 'Collateral Bodies' are practicing hard for their upcoming productions and TheatreOne competition in Regina."

"Collateral Bodies" is a dramatic one-act play, written by Erin Rachel Kaplan, and it will be produced in partnership with Crocus 80 Theatre and Envision Counselling and Support Centre.

"Collateral Bodies" will be staged in the communities of Weyburn, Estevan and Carlyle, before Crocus 80 takes the production to the TheatreOne competition in Regina.

The Weyburn date is Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre; the Estevan date is Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Souris Valley Theatre; and the Carlyle date is Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Carlyle Memorial Hall.

With the December play in mind, Crocus 80 Theatre invites anyone interested out to the casting call on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The December play will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on December 5 to 8.

Interested members can include those who want a part on stage, or those who are interested in helping behind the scenes.

"We usually decide on the play based on who comes out for the auditions," said Kraft. "We do have a number of comedies that we are considering, and we are looking forward to offering another success dinner theatre. Large groups or businesses who want to book dates now for their Christmas parties are encouraged to contact myself."
