Detour pool league raises funds for Weyburn Humane Society

The Detour’s Brews and Cues pool league raised $1,500 for the Weyburn Humane Society in memory of Randy Furguson.

WEYBURN – The Detour’s Brews and Cues pool league raised $1,500 for the Weyburn Humane Society in memory of Randy Furguson, who was a member of the league. Randy passed away on Dec. 16th, 2020.

The league started up in 2007, and has run for 16 years with the exception of when there were COVID restrictions.

The Smokin’ 8's, Sheryl Lohse's team, won first place for the season. The team included Dan Lohse, Shawn Cox, Paul Mcinnes and Sheryl Lohse.

The league starts up in September and runs until mid-March. There were nine teams this year.

Mike Emisch won the Brian Dahl sportsmanlike award this season. Dahl was another previous member of the league who passed away on February 26, 2017.

Kevin Hallberg made a special presentation during the league windup to Michael Souther, who received Randy's pool cue and case. Michael was a very good friend of Randy's and always went to visit him at Randy's house and played pool with him there.
