The Estevan Police Service's ongoing battle against the drug trade has resulted in a number of arrests.

The EPS announced over the weekend that on Thursday their Serious Crimes Unit, along with the RCMP Integrated Organized Crime South Border Enforcement Team, made arrests after a four-month-long joint investigation.

In July, police arrested a 23-year-old B.C. man for trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. A warrant was also executed and cocaine and property obtained by the proceeds of crime were seized in the search.

The investigation continued and last week three more men from B.C. were arrested in the city.

The release noted that police conducted two search warrants, one on a condo unit in the northeast area of the city where a substantial amount of cash and other evidence was located and seized.

The other search warrant was executed on a local hotel room also located on the northeast side of the City. Officers seized approximately $20,000 worth of cocaine and another substantial amount of cash.

Police are continuing to investigate this group and charges relating to trafficking, conspiracy to traffic, possession of proceeds of crime, and participation in a criminal organization are all being considered.

Overall, nearly $40,000 worth of cocaine and other drugs have been seized along with a large amount of cash. The release added that further arrests may come as the investigation continues into the organization.
