Estevan Bruins get their first win of the season

The Estevan Bruins beat the Nipawin Hawks 4-1 on Tuesday night.

NIPAWIN - The Estevan Bruins scored three times in the second period in a 4-1 road victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday night. 

Liam Lucas gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead after the first period when he scored with 2:17 to play in the opening frame.

Tyler Guy, Kade Runke and Lucas scored in a seven-minute span of the second period to lift the Bruins a 4-0 advantage.

Maguire Ratzlaff's power-play goal 52 seconds into the third period would be the Hawks' lone goal of the night. 

Cam Hrdlicka stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced to get the win in goal for the Bruins. Reid Lalonde made 27 saves on 31 shots for Nipawin.

The win was the Bruins' first of the season in three attempts. Nipawin also has one win in three games this season. 

The two teams will meet again Wednesday night in Nipawin, starting at 7 p.m.
