ESTEVAN – The Estevan Police Service apprehended an impaired driver Thursday night, and made other arrests during the first few days of the week.

As a result of a traffic stop, a 32-year-old man was charged for impaired operation and having a blood alcohol content over .08. He was released for a court date in December.

Police responded to the Pleasantdale area after receiving a complaint of an assault. Members spoke with a group of young people who were involved in a disagreement. No injuries were reported. The matter remains under investigation.

A 27-year-old Estevan man was charged for breaching conditions of a release order. He will answer to these charges in court in December.

Members responded to a residence in west-central Estevan Tuesday for a report of a male in distress. The male, who was very intoxicated, was spoken to upon police arrival and the situation defused. He was brought to hospital where he was assessed and released. Due to the level of his intoxicated state and his safety, he was brought to the police station where he was lodged in cells and released the following morning when sober.

Three traffic stops in central Estevan on Monday resulted in three 72-hour roadside suspensions. Two were as a result of failed drug screenings and the other was a result of a failed alcohol screening. Two of the three had their vehicles impounded. One of the failed drug screening matters remains under investigation, with that driver facing possible impaired driving charges.
