Estevan police called about collision, scam

Collision occurred Wednesday when a vehicle tried to avoid a deer.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service has handled a number of different calls to start the week.

A motor vehicle collision occurred in north Estevan Wednesday, as a result of the vehicle swerving to avoid a deer. The vehicle entered the centre meridian and collided with a concrete planter, which caused extensive damage to the vehicle as well as the planter. The driver was not injured.

Members were dispatched to an altercation at a north Estevan establishment. The involved intoxicated male had already left on foot before police arrived, and was soon found and transported to his residence, where he was left in the care of a family member.

A scam was reported Tuesday to the EPS that involved the scammer requesting a large sum of money in order to release a prize that was won. The public is advised to be aware of this and other scams that are occurring daily and to not provide anyone with personal or financial information. The source should always be verified before releasing personal information.

Police received a request to keep the peace Monday while an individual obtained their possessions from a residence in the central part of the city. Officers attended and there were no issues.

A report of a semi trailer with its rear wheels on fire was also received. The trailer was on the truck bypass. The Estevan Fire Rescue Service was also dispatched and assisted with extinguishing the fire.

Police received a request to assist in removing an unwanted house guest. Members attended and assisted with removing the individual and keeping the peace while they obtained their belongings.
