Estevan police charge motorist with multiple offences

Estevan police made a few arrests on the weekend.

ESTEVAN - A motorist is facing multiple charges after failing to stop for members of the Estevan Police Service on Saturday.

Members attempted a vehicle stop near a local convenience store. Police say the driver didn’t stop in an attempt to avoid apprehension. 

Through investigation, police were able to identify the driver who turned himself in on Monday morning. The subject has been charged with failing to stop for police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code. 

He was released with a future court date.

Also on the weekend, police received a report of possible gunshots in east Estevan. Members patrolled the area and learned the noise occurred from someone setting off fireworks. The source of the fireworks was unable to be determined.

As a result of another traffic stop, a female had her licence suspended for 21 days and vehicle impounded for seven days, after failing a roadside screening test.

Members received a report of a possible impaired driver leaving a local restaurant. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for impaired driving. The driver provided samples of his breath that exceeded the legal limit for alcohol. His driver’s licence was suspended and vehicle impounded.
