Friends of Isaiah to hold dessert and concert evening in Weyburn

WEYBURN – The Friends of Isaiah fundraiser group will be hosting a dessert and concert evening on Monday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Knox Hall.

The Friends of Isaiah fundraiser Family Day, along with the sale of meals and cards at Leicester’s Restaurant, made $11,050, bringing the total money raised for the family to $53,487.97, as of Sunday evening.

The Family Day event included bouncy houses and a car show by the Sooline Cruisers, with proceeds from the sale of meals and cards for the Isaiah Evans Trust Fund. The sale of cards, for $5 each, will continue to be available at Leicester’s for the month of June.

“We had people who just came and bought cards, as they couldn’t stay,” said Shannon Seitz, organizer for the Family Day fundraiser. “The staff was really excited to help out.”

She estimated around 500 people came through over the course of the day, some to browse through the car show, take their kids to the bouncy houses, to buy cards or a meal, with $10 from every meal donated to the trust fund.

The goal is to raise $100,000 for a medical van for the safe transport of Isaiah to community events, school or to medical appointments. There is a gofundme page, and a trust fund account set up at the Weyburn Credit Union, where people can give donations directly.

The concert and dessert evening will feature the WCS RISE Choir, directed by Holly Butz, and performers from the Weyburn Free Methodist Church, where the Evans family attends. Isaiah’s older brother, Liam, is a member of the RISE choir.

Organizers are asking for any donations of baking to help with the fundraiser evening.

Admission to the event will be by donation.
