Garage destroyed in late-night fire in Weyburn

There were no injuries in the fire which caused over $75,000 in damages

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Fire Department was called to a garage fire in the area of 24 Seventh Avenue SE in Weyburn at around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, Fire Chief Simon Almond assumed command of the fire, as the garage was fully involved. The fire was brought under control in short order due to the aggressive fire attack, and the fire was confined to the detached garage structure.

The fire is currently under investigation by Weyburn Fire with the assistance of Weyburn Police and the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.

Weyburn Fire was also assisted at the scene by Weyburn EMS, SaskPower and SaskEnergy.

There were no casualties or injuries, and damage estimates are anticipated to be more than $75,000.
