ASSINIBOIA - The Gravelbourg Cares shuttle has reluctantly decided that suggested donations for taking the shuttle will be going up on March 1, 2022.

This is the first time since the shuttle was launched two and half years ago that the committee had to adjust fares. Ever-rising fuel prices have forced the committee to make this decision.

As of March 1, the suggested donations to the three main will increase by $10. New fares will be as follows: Regina $60, Moose Jaw $50, Swift Current $55.

Tax receipts issued to riders are deductible as medical expenses.

Other suggested donations, to Assiniboia and from Lafleche to Gravelbourg and return, will remain unchanged, as they already meet much of the fuel costs for the distances involved. The suggested donations to both destinations remain set at $35.

The Gravelbourg Cares shuttle organization is in very good financial shape due to generous supporters, donors and riders. Donations have contributed to meeting all fixed costs and part of the fuel cost.

Due to gasoline prices increasing, and other expected increases through 2022, the committee felt it important to ask their riders to contribute a little more to keep the service healthy.

Beyond donations and fares, the shuttle also owes much of its success to an all-volunteer group of directors, drivers and dispatchers. The Gravelbourg Cares shuttle offers pre-reserved, door-to-door service in Gravelbourg for people headed for medical or wellness appointments in the cities. People from the surrounding area can also meet the shuttle at HB Junction (Fas Gas) at the corner of Route 58 and First Avenue (Route 43). A new pickup service for riders from Assiniboia is also growing.

People from that area going to Regina or Moose Jaw for appointments can meet the shuttle at the junction of Highway 2 and the 43 due to a free link-up service offered by the Masonic Lodge and Nelson GM.

As popularity of the Gravelbourg Cares Shuttle Service continues to increase, the committee urge riders to get in touch with them at 306-650-7333 to book rides as early as possible.
