Halbrite man faces firearm charges after search of residence

A 35-year-old man Halbrite faces firearm and obstruction charges after he tried fleeing the RCMP on Tuesday during a search of his residence.

Weyburn RCMP have laid firearm and obstruction charges of a Halbrite man, after executing a search warrant on his residence.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn RCMP have charged Ben Bedore, 35, of Halbrite with firearm and obstruction charges, following the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday.

The search was in relation to an ongoing investigation. As police entered the residence subject to the warrant, Bedore fled on foot.

Police resources, including the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services unit, searched Halbrite for him, and he was apprehended without incident a short time after fleeing and was taken into police custody.

Bedore has been charged with the following offences, including unsafe storage of firearms, unauthorized possession of a firearm, obstruction of a justice system participant and obstruction of a peace officer.

Bedore will make his first appearance in Weyburn Provincial Court on October 11, 2022.
