Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2067, SaskPower's largest union, have ratified a new collective agreement with the company.

The two-year contract provides increases of 1.5 and 2.0 percent to base wages in 2010 and 2011 with retroactive pay from Jan. 1, 2010. SaskPower has also committed to a western Canada market review on a job-by-job basis.

"We value the contributions IBEW members make to our business and we're pleased to have reached an agreement," SaskPower president Robert Watson said. "We look forward to working together to ensure Saskatchewan has a reliable, affordable and environmentally sustainable supply of electricity."

IBEW Local 2067 business manager Neil Collins is also pleased with the agreement, which expires at the end of 2011.

"Our bargaining committee felt the agreement was fair and in line with our members' needs," said Collins.

IBEW represents more than 1,400 SaskPower employees working in transmission and distribution, safety, metering services and at power plants. The company has approximately 2,800 full-time employees.
