Man, 54, dies in collision east of Weyburn, three adults injured

A 54-year-old man died and three other adults were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Monday on Highway 13 east of Weyburn.

The RCMP responded to a multi-vehicle collision east of Weyburn on Monday evening; one man died and three others were seriously injured.

WEYBURN – A 54-year-old man died and three other adults were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Monday evening on Highway 13 approximately 16 kms east of Weyburn.

The call about the accident came in around 4:40 p.m., and RCMP officers from the Weyburn/Fillmore detachments and the Traffic Services Unit responded immediately.

Preliminary investigation indicated an SUV was stopped on Highway 13 to make a left turn off of the highway when a pick-up truck collided with it from behind. As a result of the impact, the SUV was pushed into oncoming traffic and did not collide with any other vehicle.

The SUV had two occupants, the driver and a passenger. The adult driver was taken to hospital for injuries described as being serious, but non-life-threatening. The front passenger, a 54-year-old male, was declared deceased on scene by EMS. His family has been notified.

The pick-up truck had two adult occupants, who were both taken to hospital for injuries described as being serious.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Analyst and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service attended the scene.

Traffic restrictions and re-routes are no longer in place. The investigation is ongoing.
