Military historian to speak at Weyburn Remembrance Day service

Weyburn's Remembrance Day service will be held entirely indoors in the Legion Hall, starting at 10:55 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold their service for Remembrance Day all indoors, upstairs in the Legion Hall, on Friday, Nov. 11.

The guest speaker for the service will be Craig Bird of the South East Military Museum located in Estevan.

The service will begin with the Colour Guard marching in at 10:55 a.m., along with the dignitaries and speakers, to be in place for the Last Post, two minutes of silence and Reveille at the stroke of 11.

Following the welcome by Legion president Brian Glass, the War Mother, Ruth Schultz, will be introduced, then the dignitaries and the deposit of the wreaths.

Following greetings local government representatives, Bird will speak and an offering will be taken for the veterans’ poppy trust fund, and the Variations community choir will sing.

After final remarks by Glass, the colours will be marched off to end the service.

After the service, the War Mother and her family will be the special guests for the luncheon to follow in the Legion Lounge.
