Naming rights for Community Centre sold for $1M

The Weyburn Triple C (Community, Cultural, Convention) Centre Corporation made a major announcement recently regarding the latest progress in their fundraising efforts to build the community space at Weyburn Comprehensive School.

"A generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, has agreed to donate a financial portfolio worth one million dollars to Weyburn Triple C Centre Corp," announced Chairperson Dave Craigen.

He explained that the donation is a financial portfolio that the Corporation will manage. The donation will be paid in three instalments in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

"One million dollars is the bench mark for naming rights for the community space and with this donation, the donor will be submitting their choice of name to the Weyburn Comprehensive School Community Council for consideration," said Craigen.

Craigen said that the Corporation's fundraising chairperson, Isabelle Butters, is the only person on the board that knows who the donor is and "her lips are sealed."

Craigen said that this donation is a remarkable demonstration of community giving and he hopes that it will generate more fundraising action.

Other naming rights opportunities are still available in the future centre, including rights to the commons area, stage, rooms, and balcony. Seats are available for $100 each.

Tickets are still available for the Corporation's "Win Big Weyburn" Lottery. The winner of the $25,000 Early Bird Draw was Dr. Chad Fletcher, which was drawn on June 17.
