Nominations for Women of Distinction awards close on March 31

Nominations are now being accepted for the Women of Distinction Awards, which is being organized by the Weyburn YF Wives Club.

WEYBURN - Nominations are now being accepted for the Women of Distinction Awards, which is being organized by the Weyburn YF Wives Club. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 31, and the First Annual Women of Distinction Awards Gala will be held on Friday, May 5.

The awards, formerly the Quota Women of the Year Awards, was taken over by the YF Wives Club.

There are four award categories, including the Weyburn Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award; the YF Wives Community Service Award; the Exceptional Entrepreneur Award; and the Weyburn Oilwomen’s Young Woman of Distinction Award.

The Workplace Excellence Award will be presented to a woman who supports the diverse needs of the workplace, and is a role model in best workplace practices. She implements innovative initiatives, is progressive to employee needs, supports the advancement and success of others, fosters professional development and promotes healthy lifestyles.

The Community Service Award will go to a woman who is a volunteer who mentors and inspire others through involvement in community programs and organizations. She has shown her dedication to enrich the community, educate, alleviate social inequities and strengthen volunteer participation by creating, participating in or adapting programs to meet community needs.

The Exceptional Entrepreneur Award will be presented to a woman who has successfully launched a business, product or service, and remains active in the business. She has exceptional leadership, creativity and ingenuity, and has taken an innovative approach to solving a problem, or filling a need.

The Young Woman of Distinction Award will go to a woman between the ages of 18-30 who has made a significant contribution to the life of her community, demonstrates outstanding leadership, has inspired her peers to follow her example, and has shown maturity, perseverance, innovation and compassion.

All nominees must be over the age of 18 and living in Weyburn or within a 50-km radius of the city, and the nominations will be considered by the selection committee, which will be comprised of an independent group of volunteers.

Nomination packages are available at the Weyburn Credit Union, or at Weyburn Review office. Nomination submissions can be sent by email to yfwivesgala@gmail.com, or mailed or dropped off at 20 Shields Place, Weyburn, S4H 0C3.

The Gala tickets will be available by mid-April. Tickets will be provided for the nominee and one guest, and additional tickets will be $65 each.
