Over 230 tickets sold for fall supper held in L.Alma

Lake Alma (cpd) - Despite the farmers being busy in the fields on Sept. 25, a very successful fall supper was held at the Community Hall. Over 230 supper tickets were sold. Several from the area took in the Hostfest at Minot, N.D., on Sept.



Lake Alma (cpd) - Despite the farmers being busy in the fields on Sept. 25, a very successful fall supper was held at the Community Hall. Over 230 supper tickets were sold.

Several from the area took in the Hostfest at Minot, N.D., on Sept. 29 to Oct. 2. They all reported a very good time with lots to see, buy and eat.

Steve Blackmore, who lives north of Minton, had his combine catch on fire on Sept. 29 about 4 p.m. He had a cell phone with him and called 911, and with the help of the Ceylon Fire Department and neighbours they were able to get it out with no one being hurt. The combine is a total loss and some crop was burned.

Kirk and Ila Torkelson became grandparents to a baby boy born on Aug. 31, named Colby James. Kirk and Ila flew out to Calgary to meet and greet their new grandchild on Sept. 4, returning home on Sept. 7. Norma Lohse and Gladys Torkelson are the great grandmothers to Colby.

Norma and Kim Lohse attended the outdoor wedding of their granddaughter and niece, Jasmin Caroline and Timothy John Young at Brenda and Mark Stockford's acreage at Kindersley on Sept. 18. Rev. Peter Walker, a former pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Weyburn, performed the ceremony. The reception and dance was held at the Elks Hall in Kindersley. Gift opening was also held at the Stockford's the next afternoon.

Beryl Lohse of Weyburn traveled to Rosetown on Sept. 16 spending time with her daughter Laurie and Gavin Cordess attending the Lohse-Young wedding and festivities at Kindersley on the 18th, and then she returned to Rosetown on the 19th and to Weyburn on the 20th.

Ila and Kirk Torkelson traveled to Denzil on Sept. 17, where they were overnighters with their daughter Bonnie and Darrel Seiben and family and then went on to Kindersley where they attended the wedding of their niece Jasmin Lohse and Timothy Young. Others from the area attending the wedding were Myrna and Roy Lohse, Blake and Karen LaBatte, Russ and Sharon Torkelson, Randy and Marianna Wick and Randy and Wendy Olson.

Ida Offet accompanied Duane and Delores Larsen to Lake Alma on Sept. 18 where they took in the garage sales, enjoyed lunch and visiting at the Hall and went to their granddaughter Melissa Lohse's house where they saw the new little Chihuahuas puppies that had been born on the 13th.

Clare and Ida Offet of Weyburn traveled to Regina on Sept. 20 where they picked up their grandchildren, Cael and Tahlaya Offet at their Blackmore grandparents and took them home to Moosomin. They visited with Curtis Offet in the Pasqua Hospital before going to Moosomin. Curtis finished his radiation treatments on the 21st and was discharged from hospital on the 22nd. Deena traveled to Regina from Moosomin on the 23rd and after spending the day with Curtis back at the hospital they both returned to Moosomin late that evening. Clare and Ida returned to Weyburn the evening of the 24th. Curtis is doing quite well after spending 15 days in the hospital due to his blood count going so low due to the treatments.

Jason and Laura Lee Petersen have sold their trailer in Lake Alma and have moved to a farm southeast of Radville. Jeremy Anderson is now the owner of their trailer.

Delores and Duane Larsen accompanied Clare and Ida Offet of Weyburn to the Fall Supper at Lake Alma on Sept. 25. The Larsens visited with their granddaughter, Melissa Lohse, while the Offets visited with Wylie and Sylvia Thompson before going to the supper. Mark and Janet Thompson and family were also at the Thompson's and they all took in the supper as well.

Marie and Donald Jacobson of Regina were lunch guests of Clare and Ida Offet on Oct. 2. They watched the football game in the afternoon and then were joined by Suzanne and Rick Brown of Regina, Delores and Duane Larsen and Beverly and Sam Locken for supper and visiting, the occasion being Clare's birthday.

Elaine Roysum and Wanda Johnson joined Pat Petersen, Avis Field, Jeanette Whitteron, Carole Schlosser, Audrey Michel, Heather Stairmand, Phyllis Weimer and Carol Froh for their monthly Red Hat supper get-together at Main Track on Sept. 20.
