Police assist RCMP in traffic pursuit

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the period of January 10 to 17: *Police are investigating a complaint of fraud from a local business. A person received property with a value over $5,000 and issued a non-sufficient funds cheque.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the period of January 10 to 17:

*Police are investigating a complaint of fraud from a local business. A person received property with a value over $5,000 and issued a non-sufficient funds cheque.

*On January 16, police received a complaint of mischief to a motor vehicle in the Confederation Drive area. Investigation into this matter is ongoing.

*The Moose Jaw Police Service contacted Weyburn Police Service on January 16 for assistance in locating a female from Moose Jaw that may have been abducted by persons from Weyburn. Police located the female and investigation revealed that she was in the company of the Weyburn people of her own free will.

*The Weyburn Group Home contacted police for assistance in locating a missing resident. Police were able to locate the missing person walking on Fifth Avenue North. The person had become lost while walking home.

*On January 11, police assisted the Weyburn RCMP with a traffic pursuit. The RCMP chased a vehicle into the city limits. When the vehicle got near the museum, the driver took off on foot. Police were able to locate the driver on South Hill. The driver was a 26-year-old male from Regina who faces numerous charges and will be making a court appearance later this month.

*Due to the amount of snow in the past week, there have been many accidents. Police want to remind drivers to use extra caution while driving, be alert when near City crews cleaning streets and not to put snow from their property onto city streets.

*Police received 87 calls for assistance during this reporting period.
