A two-vehicle accident involving an Estevan Police Service (EPS) cruiser occurred at around 9 p.m. Jan. 14 along Souris Avenue north.

A report stemming from the incident indicated that a northbound vehicle made a left turn into the path of the southbound police vehicle. The driver of the police cruiser was unable to stop and collided with the vehicle that was in the process of turning.

Each vehicle contained just one occupant and both drivers sustained minor injuries that were treated at St. Joseph's Hospital before being released.

Both vehicles suffered heavy damage.

The driver of the vehicle making the left turn has been charged with failing to yield.

On the night of Jan. 17, EPS members attended to a complaint of an ongoing assault in the Westview area of the city. Police detained and interviewed several subjects and the incident remains under investigation.

A 19-year-old Estevan resident was arrested that same night on warrants for failing to appear in court on appointed dates. The resident was later released with another court date, this time in February.
