The 2006 black Dodge Ram which was stolen on February 27 has not been located and Weyburn Police Services are asking the public to contact them or dial 911 if seen.
Between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. the truck was stolen from a residence located on Johnston Drive. The stolen truck has Saskatchewan Licence plate "LNSBRY".
During the same time period of midnight and 5 a.m., several vehicles located in the city's east end were broken into. Approximately 20 vehicles in the Dieppe Drive, Tom Hart Drive, McKinnon Bay, McGillivray Drive, Greystone Apartments, and Nexans area were broken into or gone through. Most of the items taken from the vehicles were cash & electronics, but one vehicle did contain a firearm which was also stolen.
The Weyburn Police also recovered a vehicle located in the Weyburn Jr. High School parking lot which had been reported stolen out of Moose Jaw on February 27 at 9 a.m.
It appears these early morning incidents are related and the investigation continues
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Weyburn Police Service as soon as possible.
On March 2, while on patrol police observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at 3rd Street and Railway Avenue. An adult male was arrested and the subsequent investigation and breath test confirmed the male was over .08. The male was charged with impaired driving driving while his blood alcohol was over .08. He was later released and will appear in court in April.
During a routine traffic stop on March 1, police located open alcohol in a vehicle and determined the driver had been drinking. The driver was given a demand for a road side test and as result was given a 24 hour suspension. The driver also received a ticket for open alcohol in a vehicle.
The Weyburn Police Service wants to remind everyone that 24 hour suspensions result in points on your license. Two suspensions could result in the loss of a driver's license for a longer period of time. Please remember do not drink and drive.
Police responded to a hit and run accident in the Weyburn Leisure Centre parking lot. During the investigation, police observed what appeared to be the imprint of the offending vehicle's license plate on the victim auto. The other party was later located and the matter concluded with no criminal charges being laid.
Police investigated a complaint of a threat being made to a local business on February 25. Police located and spoke with the adult suspect. Due to the circumstances no charges were laid though the suspect was warned about future conduct.
Police received a complaint of a hit and run accident, the complainant was driving west on Souris Avenue approaching a green light when a truck pulled in front of the complainants vehicle, striking the vehicle. The other driver then failed to stop and left the scene of the accident. The suspect vehicle is described as an older white truck 1970s to 80s with blue and red marks on the body. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
