Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of September 19 to September 25:

During this reporting period the Weyburn Police Service dealt with a total of 113 files. A great many of these were as a result of excessive alcohol consumption.

* Police are investigating a series of related files involving rocks or other large objects being thrown through various business windows. A total of 10 local businesses were victims of these senseless acts of mischief. Anyone having any information about these incidents is asked to contact the Weyburn Police, or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

* On September 25, police were called to a report of trouble at a weekend social event. Two females were identified as having had an altercation with each other. A 26 year old local female was arrested at the scene and subsequently released pending further investigation. A 28 year old female was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital where she was admitted for observation. The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending.

* While dealing with the above matter a 20-year-old local male was arrested after he attempted to open the door of the police vehicle in which a prisoner was in custody. He has been charged with Obstruction and will be appearing in Court.

* Police are again cautioning people about becoming involved in a fight. What may seem like a simple altercation can easily turn into a criminal act.

* Police were called to a domestic disturbance where an assault had occurred. The matter is still under investigation.

* On September 24, police received a report of a theft of property from a local business. The property was subsequently located and returned to the business.

* While investigating the above matter, police had occasion to attend a local pub. While there, a 31 year old male patron attempted to remove an item from one police officer's duty belt. He was arrested and lodged in cells. He is facing a charge of being intoxicated in a public place.

* It is a serious criminal matter to in any way attempt to remove equipment from a police officer's duty belt.

* Police arrested a 39 year old male for impaired driving. Because the subject was serving a Conditional Sentence he was held in custody.

* On September 22, city police assisted the Weyburn RCMP in dealing with a serious traffic collision at the intersection of Highway #13 and #39. Weyburn Police Service members were first to arrive on the scene and had the scene secured and assisted in dealing with the injured driver prior to arrival of RCMP.

* While still assisting the RCMP, a second unrelated collision was reported at the 3rd Street and Hwy # 39 intersection. There were no injuries.

* Police received a report of an assault resulting from a domestic dispute. As a result of the investigation a 24 year old local male has been charged with assault.

* On September 21, police received a complaint of a substantial theft of cash from a business by an employee. The matter is still under investigation.

* On September 20, along with Members of the Saskatchewan SPCA and the Weyburn Humane Society, police executed a search warrant at a Weyburn residence, where 16 adult dogs were seized. As a result of the search a 65 year old male was taken into custody for uttering threats.

* Police wish to stress to pet owners that there are limitations to the number of animals a person may have in their possession. Please check with the Humane Society or the police if you have questions in this regard.

* On September 19, as a result of a traffic stop, police arrested three males aged 18, 17 and 16, for trafficking in marijuana. A small quantity of cash as well as the vehicle was seized. Approximately 63 grams of marijuana was seized.
