Due to the busy season and people with disabilities attempting to prepare for the Christmas season, Estevan Police Service (EPS) stated this past week they will be strictly enforcing the regulations concerning handicapped parking stalls throughout the city.

EPS is asking that drivers in the community pay attention to where they park so as to avoid receiving a ticket for illegally parking in a handicapped parking zone.

At the same time, the local police are reminding those with handicapped parking permits to ensure that those permits are clearly visible. Failing to display a handicapped parking permit will result in a violation of the law. If a vehicle is parked in a handicapped stall without a permit displayed for easy viewing, then it's in violation of the law.

The fine for parking in a handicapped stall without a permit or with an improperly displayed permit is $100.

EPS members are asking the public to comply with the spirit of the season and leave the handicapped parking stalls open for those who legitimately require them.
