The Radville Housing Authority Board of Directors hosted a special event to honour two Board Members for long service, recently. Directors Joan Thue and Bev Vandesype have served as volunteers on the board for 10 years and will remain on the board in their current positions.

The Saskatchewan Housing Corporation recognizes their volunteers for 10, 15, 20 and 25-plus years of volunteer service. An average of 100 individuals from across the province are recognized on an annual basis. The Corporation also gifts their retiring volunteers and thanks them for their commitment and contribution to housing Saskatchewan people.

Thue and Vandesype received a Certificate of Recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a Long-Service Lapel Pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. Doreen Eagles, MLA for Estevan made the presentations. The volunteers were praised for the dedicated individuals that they are and thanked for the time they have willingly given to the community through their housing authority. Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart.

Board members, friends and staff from the Ministry of Social Services were also in attendance to congratulate these volunteers. The Radville Housing Authority participates in a network of 276 housing authorities throughout Saskatchewan that are responsible for the management of social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities who are in need of suitable accommodation. The volunteers on the Radville Board are representative of many Saskatchewan residents who invest in their communities with personal time and effort, and the success of Saskatchewan's social housing programs is due in large part to their dedication. They currently have 26 housing units in their portfolio.

Present members of the Board of Directors for Radville Housing Authority are Darlene Lund, Ken Oberkirsch, Joan Thue and Bev Vandesype; Ingrid Bjork is Chairperson and Jim Bouchard is Housing Authority Manager.
