Regina man facing firearms charges

REGINA — A 26 year-old Regina man faces firearms-related charges in connection to an early morning incident on Tuesday.

Marlon Roland Whitehawk is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm, knowing its possession is unauthorized; two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm with ammunition; possession of a restricted firearm obtained by crime; two counts of storing a firearm contrary to regulations, possession of firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with; and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Whitehawk is scheduled for his first court appearance on the charges on Sept. 28 in provincial court. 

According to Regina Police, at around 5:45 a.m. Aug. 9, police units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Wascana Street after the Communications Centre received reports of two gunshots in the area.  After police arrived, they observed a number of people in the basement of a residence.  The officers set up a close perimeter and challenged the occupants to come out of the house.  Seven people came out and were taken into custody, but all but six were eventually released with no charges. 

The search of the residence turned up a loaded .45 calibre handgun; a loaded 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun; and an assortment of ammunition.
