SaskPower provides update on power outages in southeast Saskatchewan

Approximately 6,000 homes were without power at one point due to a powerful storm in southeast Saskatchewan.

A powerful thunderstorm rolled through parts of southeast Saskatchewan, knocking out power to thousands of homes.

SaskPower has provided an update on power outages occurring in southeast Saskatchewan. 

Currently 3,040 customers remain without power as a result of extreme weather that hit parts of southeast Saskatchewan Friday night. Crews have worked diligently throughout Saturday, restoring power to approximately 6,000 customers affected by the storm.

  • Rural areas south of Whitewood, ETR noon Sunday;
  • Rocanville – ETR 2 p.m. Sunday;
  • Rural areas southwest of Wapella, ETR 5 p.m. Sunday; and
  • Sakimay First Nation, ETR 6 p.m. Sunday.

Localized damage may also result in some customers remaining without power even after the primary repairs are completed. Customers who continue to experience an outage after their area has been restored should call SaskPower’s outage centre at 310-2220. Customers are reminded to watch out for downed power lines. Even if they aren't sparking they could be live and are extremely dangerous. If anyone encounters a downed line, stay at least 10 metres back and call the outage centre to report it.
