WEYBURN – Lieutenant Governor Russell Mirasty presented to Southeast College CEO and President Dr. Vicky Roy and Board of Governors Chair, Donna Nyeste, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal on Dec. 14, for their continued service and dedication to the education sector in Saskatchewan.

The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary year of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Accession to the Throne. A total of 7,000 medals will be awarded at ceremonies across the province during the Platinum Jubilee year.

“Being recognized in Saskatchewan is a great honour for me,” said Dr. Roy. “I have been serving Canadian education for the past 20 years, and I am thrilled to receive this meaningful recognition for the work I accomplished at Southeast College with a wonderful team.”

“After volunteering at the college for three years, I am passionate about education and committed to helping Dr. Roy and her great team take the college to new heights,” said Nyeste, Chair of the College Board of Governors. “It is an honour for me to receive this medal.”

Both recipients of the medals would like to extend their sincere thanks to Gordon Wyant, K.C., Minister of Advanced Education and MLA for Saskatoon Northwest, who nominated both recipients for this award.
