Shooting in Estevan results in one person being arrested

One person has been arrested after allegedly shooting another with a BB gun.

ESTEVAN - One person has been arrested for aggravated assault following a shooting in Estevan on March 26. 

Members of the Estevan Police Service responded to the reported shooting in the Pleasantdale area early in the evening. The victim had been shot in the face, torso and arms with a fully automatic BB gun. The individual was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Estevan Emergency Medical Services, and the EPS said the person was in stable condition.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Estevan man for aggravated assault. He is to appear before a justice of the peace on March 27 to be remanded into custody for court the following morning.

In other recent police news, officers attended to a disturbance in central Estevan on March 25. Police had received a telephone call from the residence and a separate call from a concerned complainant. Police attended and spoke to both parties involved. One party agreed to leave the residence and return at a later time once things had a chance to settle down.

Police returned to the same area of the city a short time later to a report of a disturbance at a different residence. Members mediated a resolution for the evening between two roommates that were having a disagreement.

Officers received a request from Emergency Medical Services for assistance. They had received a 911 call from a residence and were not able to gain access to the residence or the individual making the request for service. Police attended and assisted EMS in getting access to the patient.

Police attended to a local liquor establishment as a patron at the establishment was refusing to leave. Members attended and the female was sent on her way in a taxi. 

Members received a call through the Report Impaired Drivers line around 5:30 a.m. on March 26. Police were unable to locate the vehicle until later on in the morning. The vehicle was parked at the residence of the registered owner.

Police received a request for assistance as an individual was having suspicious activity around their residence. The EPS is still investigating the matter.

Officers were called to a residence on March 26 to a report of a male outside the dwelling. He isn’t to have contact with one of the residents. Police attended and learned there was no attempt by the male to make illegal contact. The male was sent on his way with a friend.

Members were called to a local liquor establishment to a report of males refusing to leave after being asked. Members attended and the two males left without incident.  

Police were also called to a local liquor establishment to a report of individuals trying to fight inside. Officers attended and separated the individuals involved. One Estevan male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober, as he wouldn’t heed members’ attempt to get him to go home and cause no further problems. He continued to want to fight. He was lodged to prevent any further altercations.
