Sleepless in Energy CityPeople deciding to bunk down where they're not really supposed to be, created a flurry of activity for members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) this past week. On Friday, Aug. 27 police responded to a report of a person sleeping in a building on private property, but that person had departed prior to police arrival. The property owner removed several personal items that had been left behind and secured the building and no further action was taken. EPS received a report of several other people sleeping in an entrance of a local business but no one was present when they arrived. EPS members also opened an investigation into a report of uttering threats that they received on Aug. 27. A young female approached police on Aug. 27, requesting assistance while she returned to her residence since she feared for her safety due to previous behaviour patterns displayed toward her by several other young females. The young woman was escorted home by EPS members, but the group of females in question had departed prior to her arrival. A report of a potential impaired driver was relayed to Estevan police during an Aug. 28 day shift. The vehicle was located at the registered owner's residence but there was no further information as to whether or not follow-up action was taken. A complaint about a noisy party was received by EPS members that same day. The occupants of the residence were warned about the city's noise bylaw. Some wilful damage was inflicted on a bus parked in the central business district on Aug. 28. The back window had been smashed out while the bus was temporarily parked in the area. The matter remains under investigation. An unregistered vehicle was identified on the city's west side on Aug. 28 so it was towed away. On the night of Aug. 30, EPS members were dispatched to the south side of the city in response to a complaint of a domestic disturbance. One person involved in the dispute left the area when police arrive and no further action was requested at that time. Police were also asked to look into a report of theft from a local residence on Aug. 28 and they responded to a noise complaint coming from the west side of the city which led to a warning being issued to the home owner.
