SSEER dissolution won't significantly impact Weyburn

In its March budget, the Government of Saskatchewan made the decision to cease funding the Enterprise Region program within Enterprise Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan South East Enterprise Region (SSEER) Board of Directors has made a recommendation for dissolution of the organization as a result.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce does not stand to lose out in this decision.

The City and RM of Weyburn, along with the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and SEREDA all were members of SSEER and held Board seats. The dissolution of the Enterprise Regions won't have the impact on Weyburn that it may have on other communities in Saskatchewan. This is because when the Government ceased funding the Regional Economic Development Authorities four years ago, the City of Weyburn and the Weyburn Chamber partnered to keep the South East Regional Development Authority (SEREDA) operating.

"The RM of Weyburn also participates in SEREDA and as such we are able to continue working together-uninterrupted-on making our community the best place for business," said Chamber President Jeff Richards.
