Sun Country Health Region will be holding a Community Leadership Network meeting in Carlyle on April 15 at the Skyline Motor Inn. The meeting has been scheduled to be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Community Leadership Network meetings are held twice a year in four different locations. Previous meetings of this nature have been held in Bengough, Estevan, and Weyburn earlier this month.

Here the Sun Country Health Region Board is able to meet with urban and rural municipalities within their geographical boundaries to better understand and administer accordingly.

To be addressed specifically at these meetings are specific topics, however, since the meeting is open to the public there will be time to speak about other concerns as well.

"This is actually the first time it's going to be open to the public," Marga Cugnet, Sun Country President and CEO, explained in regards to these particular types of meetings.

"These are meetings that the board has with community members and it's to provide information to communities, so we usually have a topic or something we want to focus on and this year we're going to be talking about mental health and addiction services," Cugnet stated.

"We also, last year, we had our first roll out of our strategic plan in terms of quotients and strategy deployment and this year as well we're going to be doing that as well and introducing the new projects for this year."

This is a way for Sun Country to actually get into communities and speak with everyday people, which they are excited about.

"There's always opportunity, and we do actually approach community members and see if there's anything they want to talk about; but, we also leave ample time at the end of the meeting for them to ask questions and it's a really good chance to kind of talk about what's happening in their area."

Concerns with health care have been high and with any topic of discussion there has been a lot of talk regarding different aspects of what is being done. This meeting is open to the public as a way to help Sun Country clear up possible misconceptions with the physician situation in the area, while allowing them a platform to discover other concerns in the community in relation to healthcare as well.
