The City of Weyburn initially had the ownership as they owned the title to the former Souris Valley hospital building, which has now been demolished. The time capsule was placed in the building's cornerstone on May 19, 1921, and was opened 88 years later, on May 19, 2009. It includes newspapers of the day, including the Weyburn Review and Weyburn Herald, along with the Regina Morning Leader, and coins from that time.
