Three people facing charges following drug and weapons arrests

One person is facing five charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Charges have been announced following a traffic stop near Weyburn last week.

WEYBURN - Three people have been charged in connection with a traffic stop that occurred on Aug. 31 outside of Weyburn.

Kaitlyn Howells, a 29-year-old woman from Weyburn, made her first court appearance in Weyburn Provincial Court on Sept. 6. She is charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking fentanyl and trafficking methamphetamine, all under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

She has been remanded in custody and will make her next court appearance on Sept. 12 in Estevan Provincial Court.

Two other people were charged as a result of the investigation. A 24-year-old woman from Saskatoon is charged with possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose under the Criminal Code. Her name was not released.

A 33-year-old man from Weyburn is charged with breach of a probation order under the Criminal Code.

They will appear in court on Oct. 11 in Weyburn.

The charges were announced by the Estevan Police Service Tuesday afternoon.

Officers from the Estevan Police and Weyburn Police Services intercepted a significant quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and Canadian currency during a traffic stop on Highway 39 southeast of Weyburn.

A total of five occupants were in the vehicle.
